Caption: Thursday, June 11, 1964. OU Chancellor Varner (center) describes construction progress at the Festival site with UAW executive Ken Morris (left), and UAW President Walter Reuther. In a pledge of UAW support, 50 labor officials and their wives dined in the OU Gold Room, as Mr. Reuther's guests, and viewed the Meadow Brook grounds for the first time. By opening night, the UAW met the quota of its campaign to solicit season tickets for the Festival's symphonic season.
