Caption: PACE volunteers met Friday with Mrs. Domenica Paterno of New York's Hunter College for a special program at Oakland University. Mrs. Paterno, associate in the Gateway English program for disadvantaged children in New York City, demonstrated extemporacting in the classroom as an aid to teaching. From left to right above are Mrs. Paterno; Mrs. Erma Coit, third grade teacher at Pontiac's McConnell School; and the PACE volunteer who works with her, Mrs. Ralph Fox of [address redacted], Bloomfield Hills. Financed by a federal grant, this pilot plan involves the use of volunteers in three area schools to help teachers use this special tool in the education of their pupils.
