Title
Campus Sites - Aerial Photos (early)
Description
Caption: An aerial photo of the burgeoning campus or Oakland University at Rochester, Mich, shows the location ("A" in center background) of the planned $4.2 million classroom-office building of the new School of Performing Arts. The view is to the southeast of what was rolling farmland a scant decade ago. Since being established 10 years ago and opening classes to its first students in the fall of 1959, the University's physical plant has grown from two buildings to a cluster of 15 that now form the discernable outline of a college campus. The dark area shaped like a figure eight, in the left foreground, is a man-made lake that lies between the Meadow Brook Theatre ("B" in center foreground) and the student residence halls (at left).
